Expert says 2022 longest DDoS attack on Russian banks lasts 33 days

MOSCOW, Mar 16 (PRIME) -- Russian cybersecurity company Rostelecom-Solar registered more than 87,000 hacker DDoS attacks on the country’s banks in 2022 with the longest lasting almost 33 days, Alexei Pavlov, head of business development at the company’s anti-cyberattack center, told PRIME on Thursday.

The 33-day attack is the seventh by duration among the DDoS-related incidents registered by the company in 2022, Pavlov said.

The strongest attack on the financial sector had a capacity of 30 Gbit/s, he added.

DDoS attacks on the financial sector surged in May 2022 but declined already in June, and both intensity and duration decreased by the end of 2022.
